There’s something truly special about photographing love stories in Rome. This time I had the pleasure of capturing an engagement session for a sweet American couple and the Eternal City provided the perfect backdrop for their love.

We started in mid-afternoon, facing a harsh summer light, but I embraced the challenge by seeking out bright buildings and stone surfaces to soften the shadows. Rome’s architecture is a gift in this way—its warm tones and reflective surfaces create a natural glow that adds depth and elegance to every shot.

One of the most beautiful spots we found was on Isola Tiberina. This little island in the Tiber River is a hidden gem, offering a peaceful atmosphere and stunning views. From there we ventured into the heart of Rome, exploring the Fori Imperiali and, of course, the iconic Colosseum.

One of the best surprises of the day? The absence of huge crowds. It felt as if the city had opened up just for us, allowing us to take our time, find the best angles, and let the couple truly enjoy their moment together. And then came the grand finale—a warm, golden sunset that wrapped the city in the most romantic light.

Being back in Rome for a job was an incredible feeling. Walking through the historic center, I was reminded once again why I love this city so much. Our culture, our history….it all started here. Stepping on the same stones that emperors once walked on never loses its magic.
