As some of you might now I am a motorsport enthusiast and an amateur driver and, as you can imagine, when I got the chance to mix work and passion I was very thrilled to shot portraits to a race driver.

Even better if the driver is also a famous youtuber called Alberto Fontana a.k.a. Naska that I was following from quite some times and that inspired me to do some test on race cars lately.

I shot during an event at Mugello Circuit (simply the best track in the word for me!) where he was driving a Predator open wheel single seater, a car that I need to try very very soon.

I took some action shost and some portraits while he was in the car, waiting for the start, then we had about 30 minutes to arrange the portrait session and it was really fun since he is a cool and good looking guy and we borrowed the 2021 prototype of Predator’s cup car with Yamaha engine.

I had a mood in my mind and I kept everything as simple as possible, one single strobe (Godox ad600) with a foldable beauty dish by neewer and I think it worked like a charm.

Come qualcuno di voi sa gia, oltre che fotografo professionista, sono anche un appasionato di motorsport ed un pilota amatoriale quindi, come potete immaginare, quando ho avuto l’opportunità di poter scattare dei ritratti ad un pilota è stato bellissimo mescolare lavoro e passione.

Ancora meglio se il pilota in questione è il famoso youtuber Alberto Naska che stavo seguendo da qualche mese e che mi ha fatto venire la voglia di “provarmi” in pista con delle auto da corsa.

L’occasione è stata quella di una gara al Mugello (il miglior circuito del mondo per me) dove Alberto guidava una predator, una monoposto che ho veramente tanta voglia di provare al più presto.

Ho iniziato scattando qualche foto in azione e qualche ritratto rubato mentre aspettava la partenza della gara, poi ci siamo ritagliati 30 minuti per la sessione di ritratto vera e propria.

E’ stato molto divertente perchè Alberto è un ragazzo simpatico ed in più abbiamo preso in prestito il prototipo della Predator 2021, motore yamaha mt09 come quello delle Legend Car che guido spesso a Castelletto di Branduzzo, goduria.

Avevo un mood preciso in testa ed ho cercato di fare tutto in modo molto essenziale e semplice, un flash singolo (godox ad600) ed un beauty dish ripiegabile neewer, penso che sia stata la scelta giusta per il tipo di luce che amo.
