Shooting wedding is something very complicated and require skills and tecnique. It also require professional gear and a lot of backup since you never know what may happen.
A lot of people ask me what kind of gear I use for wedding so this is a short list about it:
Digital cameras:
A couple of Nikon D750 (full frame 35mm sensor) and a mirrorless Fuji xt10 as backup.
Both Nikon have 2 memory card slot so I can safely have a backup on camera, each picture I shot will be recorded in 2 different memory card .
these camera are quite lightweight and it helps me moving all day long to get the best angle and to shoot without worring about the weight.
Autofocus is quick and accurate and the sensor delivers nice files that I can edit my way while I get back to the studio.
They’re both weather sealed so I won’t be worried about dust, rain or snow, I will just keep shooting.
Fuji xt10 is a good backup camera that will allow me to use a lot of vintage lens, sometimes I use it for artistic purpose.
Lenses:
Nikon 85mm f/1. G
My portrait lens, I use it as much as I can since I’m mostly a portrait photographer and I’m very used to
this focal lenght
Sigma art 35mm f/1.4
This a lens that will be attached to one of the camera all day long, 35mm is perfect for reportage and being 1.4 allows me to shoot in really low light
Nikon 24-70 f/2.8
the best all-around workhorse lens that a wedding photographer may dream about. Quick, sharp and versatile, if I should choose just a single lens for a wedding it would be this one.
there are also a couple of lens that I do not bring with me all the times but that I use sometimes in special condition
Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 VR II
A great tele lens that I use rarely on wedding due to it’s weight but it has incredible quality and versatility. VR system allows me to shot with slow shutter speed so it’s good also in low light.
Samyang 14mm f/2.8
my one and only ultrawide angle lens, I use it just for some kind of pictures but it’s very funny to use it
Memory Card:
yeah, we also have to use professional memory card to be safe and quick while we shoot, I use sandisk extreme pro cards,
they are reliable and quick
I also love to bring my old film cameras if I have time to use them and if the couple likes their vintage touch
that’s it, if you have any question just contact me 😉
have a GREAT day
